Coffee face scrubs have so many benefits for the skin and can be made with a few simple ingredients you already have in your kitchen!
The following is a guest post from Jacki of Crazy Life With Littles, enjoy!
Last month we shared how to make our favorite cold brew coffee using the Toddy System. Now we’re going to utilize those leftover coffee grounds to make a quick DIY coffee face scrub using peppermint essential oils! Coffee is not just good for the soul, my friends. It actually has some pretty amazing benefits for the skin as well.
Coffee is a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The caffeine found in coffee scrubs can increase blood flow and give off a more even skin tone. We’re also adding a few drops of peppermint vitality essential oil to heighten the anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. Peppermint essential oil is also effective in reducing blackheads, oily skin, dermatitis, itchy skin and sunburn. Feel free to go beyond using this as a face scrub and use on troubled areas of your skin too.
I’ve personally tested this coffee face scrub and my skin felt so alive! The peppermint essential oil revives your tired skin while the coffee grounds smooth and exfoliate. You don’t have to worry about your skin being dry either. The coconut oil will make your face look and feel buttery soft.
Here’s what you need:
- 1/2 cup of leftover coffee grounds
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar (great for sensitive skin)
- 1/4 cup of organic coconut oil
- 10-12 drops of 🌿 Peppermint Vitality essential oil (optional, but HIGHLY recommend)
- small jar to store
Here’s what you do:
Mix all ingredients in a small to medium size bowl. There’s no need to melt the coconut oil as it will soften as you combine all the ingredients. Mix until totally combined and place in a small jar to store the coffee scrub in your shower or bathroom (wherever you’ll use it).
Here’s how to use the coffee scrub:
With a clean face, take a small amount on the tips of your fingers and gently rub in a circular motion on your face or skin. Leave on the skin for 2-6 minutes (mostly why I use it in the shower). Rinse, making sure to remove all the coffee grounds and pat dry.
Why Young Living and not essential oils from Target or Amazon?
I fell in love with Young Living, their seed to seal guarantee and the quality of their products almost immediately. Their oils are just that, oils, there are no fillers, carrier oils or synthetic fragrances. They are the purest and most potent essential oils I’ve ever used and have recommended them to friends time and time again! If you’re considering grabbing a starter kit or already have some oils hanging around, feel free to shoot me a message and I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have!
